Reyhan Mente
Reyhan Mente was born in Istanbul in 2000. She received education in graphic design and photography during high school. In 2019, she enrolled in the Painting-Teaching Department at Marmara University. In 2020, she began taking photography lessons from Ufuk Duygun, a lecturer at YTU Faculty of Art and Design, and redirected her creative process towards this discipline. She participated in various national and international group exhibitions. In 2023, her first solo exhibition, "Muamma," curated by Altan Bal, took place at IFSAK Gallery.
In her works, she examines the concepts of uncertainty, existence, inner turmoil, and melancholy, recreating traces of these concepts through manipulation and deformations. The fractures and distortions resulting from deformation and manipulation manifest themselves as traces of the past, akin to burdens passed down through genetic inheritance. Combining the emotional impact of events with her feelings, Mente continues her darkroom, experimental, and conceptual photography studies in Istanbul.
